Complexity = Corruption. And the Tax System

It’s frankly a joke how complex the US tax code is. Simplifying the code considerably, which Fareed Zakaria advocates for, would save a massive amount of money in overhead for both the government having to deal with the bloated system (my hunch is it costs taxpayers billions of dollars a year to pay all the government workers who oversee, process, regulate, and audit taxes) and for individuals & businesses having to comply with a tax code littered with complexities that often require a lawyer/accountant to interpret. So, yes – a 2 page tax code would solve so many problems in this country.

I 100% agree with Zakaria’s conclusion:

So if you ask me what kind of tax code I am in favor of, I am in favor of almost any new tax code that fulfils one requirement: It should fit on two pages.
