Specific Media just bought MySpace for $35 million. Well, I bet Newscorp is regretting this acquisition…MySpace lost $545 million dollars in value in just 6 years. Can Specific Media bring it back to life? Doubtful…

Games and Charities Missed Opportunity

I just watched the TED video by Tom Chatfield regarding 7 ways video games engage the brain [via Productivity Junkies]. Tom covered a few fascinating components that make games successful that could easily be applied to other verticals/industries. I’d encourage you to spend the 16 minutes right now and watch it. Sorry, this is just my random Sunday evening thought, but the video got me thinking — why has a charity not taken advantage of the gaming concept to raise funds to fight poverty? 84% of Workers Looking for a New Job

I was just browsing my Feedreader (yes, I still look at it every now and then) and saw the Happiness Dividend. It references a study that says 84% of people are dissatisfied with their jobs to the point that they want to look for a new job in 2011. That statistic absolutely blows me away. Why people continue working day in, day out at jobs they hate — I have no freaking idea. I would literally go crazy if I found myself in that situation and immediately find a way to do something else with my life; life is too short to spend the majority of your time doing something you hate. Headed to Saint Thomas for a Bit to Work

Last night I started my trek to Saint Thomas with my buddy from high school (who runs Bankvibe.com). We didn’t quite make it there as planned today, since our 3rd flight from Charlotte to Saint Thomas (US Airways) got cancelled so we are holed up in Charlotte at Comfort Inn for the night.
