WMG Blog Day

By Drew Meyers | September 25, 2008

Today is World Millennieum Development Goals Blogging Day, with the aim of raising awareness for the millennium development goals that were put together back in 2000. If you’re not familiar with the 8 world development goals, here they are:

  1. Eradicate Extreme Hunger and Poverty
  2. Achieve Universal Primary Education
  3. Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
  4. Reduce Child Mortality
  5. Improve Maternal Health
  6. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases
  7. Ensure Environmental Sustainability
  8. Develop a Global Partnership for Development

In my mind, microfinance is a big part of reaching many, if not all, of the Millenium Development goals. I firmly believe that we really are the generation that can make poverty history, but it’s not going to be easy (few good things are). Bloggers and companies alike did their part to raise awareness for the world’s pressing issues today. I hope you did yours.

Topics: Microfinance, Philanthropy |
