Funny I'm reading this today, I was recently referred to you Drew and decided to look at some of your stuff...on a much smaller scale, just this morning I was telling a colleague how optimistic and positive yoga makes me feel. I have been trying to spread the fever through others I come across. The results are some what saddening though. A handful of others will smile or respond to my friendly gestures, others just look at me like I'm crazy and instead of responding, actually shy away from me like there's somehting wrong with me. Pardon, I think to myself, I thought we were all humans and should try to treat each other accordingly. Isn't it better to try to understand that we all have problems and issues and try to be a little nicer to people you come in contact with since you never know, their day could be a hell of a lot worse than yours and last I checked a smile didn't cost you anything and gives back a lot. Just a thought...it's a good place to start at least.

Great post, Drew. I think the key part is "real issues." The things we think are real issues just aren't. Our perspective is so skewed -- and even when you start to readjust, it's so easy to fall back into the same habits. We've got it so good.

Amen, Drew. My heart goes out to the celebrities who live life under a microscope, it can't be easy and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. That said, it pales in comparison to the massively growing homeless population across the globe, to children beaten in Kenya schools for having ripped uniforms because they can't afford new ones, for Iranian protesters silenced permanently with gunshots, for troops valiantly giving life and limb to protect the world from oppressors and those that are too poor, old, young, or otherwise debilitated to protect, support or advocate for themselves. I'm sickened by the media treatment of celebrity, not because Big Brother Media chose to focus on celebrity but because the population demands it and rewards media with high ratings making advertisers' bottom lines happy. Barf.
