Ziki - One Online Identity?
By Drew Meyers | August 22, 2006
It seems so many sites are trying to become your online identity, but no one has done it…YET. Enter Ziki.com, which aims to become that for people by aggregating your blog’s content along with other information it collects about you including Del.icio.us links, Flickr photos, and Youtube videos. The goals of the service? It hopes to enable people to:
- Be Found
- Gather
- Share
- Promote
- Build
- Discover
- Find
- Connect
It still all comes down to achieving critical mass if Ziki wants to take advantage of the social networking aspects it hopes to, though it could still serve a lesser purpose for people using it to maintain their digital identity. You can see MyZiki here (though I just set it up and I haven’t added everything yet). I’ll elaborate a bit more once I play around with it enough to get a feel for its functionality. I learned about the service from Joel Burslem’s blog, Future of Real Estate Marketing.

[…] Finally, I would say there is a huge opportunity for anyone that can centralize everything in one place for the user, much as Paul says. I think facebook has its eyes on achieving that goal. Sites like Ziki and MyBlogLog are also attempting that same challenge. Who will be the ultimate winner? The jury is still out on that one. « Microsoft and Facebook Sign Ad Deal | […]

[…] This is kind of creepy (see screen shot below). I googled myself (yeah, I know- lame) and got a paid advertisement linking to….my profile on Ziki? I don’t think I’m really a fan of Ziki paying to get people to see my profile. And to think I was a fan of this service!! In my opinion, social networking sites that advertise to get people on a CPC basis to their site are taking the wrong approach to growing market. If a social networking site can’t spread word of mouth, then your site is going to fail…PERIOD. […]
